Industrial Maintenance Technician (IMT) Oil Programs for Various Industrial Users
The Industrial Maintenance Technician (IMT) certificate issued by TSSA authorizes an employee of an industry or institution to conduct the work on fuel-fired appliances (including piping and venting systems) with any Btuh input located at the premise of their employer. The IMT certificate is essentially a highly customized Gas Technician 1 (G.1) and/or Oil Burner Technician 1 (OBT-1) certificate that focuses the training on the equipment and work activities at the industry or institution.

About IMT Courses
NRG Resources has the qualifications and experience to complete all phases of the IMT assessment, course develop, and course delivery leading to IMT certification that will serve the training needs of your company as well as your employees.
The first phase is the assessment. NRG Resources will create an in-depth assessment report that allows your company to determine the allowed scope of fuel-related work conducted by your employees and compares this scope to the skills and knowledge of the candidates along with the types and complexity of equipment on-site.
The assessment procedure is essentially a gap analysis comparing the IMT certification requirements to the selected scope of certificate, candidates’ qualifications, and equipment to determine the hours and content for IMT certification. The procedure established by TSSA will be employed and is submitted to TSSA for review and approval.
All costs and TSSA fees charged for the assessment will be paid by NRG Resources and are included in the assessment report fee charged by NRG Resources. TSSA can also conduct the assessment. See www.tssa.org.
The second phase of the IMT certification process is development and approval of the course material to meet the requirements of the assessment report. NRG Resources develops customized manuals for each course. These manuals are valued resources employed during and after the course. The texts include manufacturer installation instructions for key components and are well organized and professionally presented.
Basic information on fuel properties, combustion, gas supply systems, appliance types, venting, controls, flame safeguards, burner/valve train components are written by NRG Resources and focused on the site-specific needs and equipment.
The training materials and course schedule are submitted to TSSA for review and approval. All TSSA course approval and audit fees are paid by NRG Resources and included in the course delivery cost as are all costs related to the development and printing of the materials.
The last phase of the IMT certification process is course delivery. The training will be conducted at a site of your choosing using training equipment such as flame safeguard training boards and valve trains brought to the site by NRG as well as equipment on site wherever feasible. PowerPoint slides are utilized for the classroom sessions and a significant portion of hands-on training is employed by NRG.
The theory and practical assessment examinations required by TSSA will be organized by NRG Resources to ensure that they are reasonable and valuable measures of the candidate’s individual performance.
The total cost for training services provided by NRG Resources depends largely on the results of the IMT Assessment Report which establishes the training hours required by TSSA as well as the training schedule required by the client.
